Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church
Virginia Beach, Virginia

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 490!

BREAKING NEWS:

  • Thursday, November 6 is PLC.

  • Remember the November 15 campout!   We are running a sports/scout skills field day for Pack 490 followed by a campout on the field at St. Gregory. We are striving for as much troop participation as possible for this event - only 1 night of camping.  Please turn in the permission slip and money by November 13.

  • A reminder for all those who went to the Aquarium Lock-In:  Please remember to send your 500-word essay to the MB Counselor, Mr. Tim George. His e-mail is: Tageorge@VirginiaAquarium.com.  If he approves your essay he will send you your blue card through the mail.

THE JUNE 2008 NEWSLETTER IS HERE!

Thomas S. has written a very impressive newsletter for June 2008.  Click here to read it in PDF format.  I think you will all agree that Thomas did an excellent job!

GOT CAMP PIX?

If you have digital photos from camp that you would like to share, send them to Mrs. Murray, who will compile them into a photo album for the website. Thanks!

Remember to check the BSA Troop 490 Calendar of Events Regularly

Troop 490 holds its meetings every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 in the Knights of Columbus Hall located between the school Gymnasium and Marian Manor. Please feel free to visit any time.

Troop 490 has been a partner with St. Gregory the Great Church since 1971.  We have all leaned on each other for support.  The "Knights of Columbus" has helped us by supplying a meeting place for us on Thursday.  They have also graciously rented out the Knights' Hall without asking for compensation.  The school has complemented us with the use of their school grounds for meetings and campouts.  The church has supported us by helping with advertising through popcorn sales and Scout Sundays.

In payment to the "Knights" and St. Gregory's, the Troop has completed numerous Eagle Scout Projects on campus. Some of the most recent are the projects by Kevin M. (the two benches and flower arrangements outside of the Knight's Hall), Robert O. (the multiple benches along the play fields), and Marvin L. a work in progress (large bird feeders).  We have also done odd jobs around the grounds.  The Troop is also planning to add benches and awnings to the Food Pantry in the future.
