Can you tie a knot
holding a string in each hand? WITHOUT letting go of each end??
Pack meetings seem to be more exciting when you break up the "business" with a bit
of fun. Ready for a small breather? Pass pieces of string to each
scout, parent and sibling. Ask them to hold an end in each hand. Now
ask the group to tie a knot in their strings - without letting go of either end!
You will see quite a bit of wriggling and jiggling, but probably very few knots.
Now you can reveal the knot tying secret! Show them how to fold their
arms across their chests, as shown in the picture below. Then, pick up a
string end with each hand, keeping your arms folded. Now, unfold your arms
and voila! A perfect knot!
