Jigs have a plastic skirt and trailer as well as a lead head.  This bait resembles a baitfish, and is a good pinpoint bait.  Jigs are versatile - you can pitch or swim a jig.  A jig can be used for cold, lethargic fish.  And speaking of fish - did we mention that jigs are known to catch very big fish?
