Dutch Oven Cobbler

The wonderful thing about this easy camping recipe is that you can make it any flavor you want by changing the type of fruit you add.  You can also add spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg to your taste.

Empty a box of white cake mix into your dutch oven.  Add a can of pie filling such as cherry or peach.   Add another box of cake mix to this, topping that with another can of filling.   We like to use a can of cherry on the bottom and a can of crushed pineapple in the middle.  Use all the juice in your cans.  Cut up a stick of butter and place the pieces over the entire mixture.  If you like pecans (or any other nut), sprinkle those over the top.  If you are cooking for only a few you can use one box of cake mix and one can of fruit, placing half of each in for a layer.

Place your dutch oven in the embers for no more than an hour.  If you are afraid of burning the bottom, have an adult ONLY place the oven on a grill over the fire and put burning embers carefully on top of your dutch oven.
